Amiodarone-Induced Alveolitis: Analysis of Publications and Authors’ Observations

5 March 08:24

Objective of the Paper: To improve the diagnosis of and to optimize the treatment strategies for amiodarone-induced alveolitis (amiodarone lung).

Key Points: The article includes an analysis of literature data and an evaluation of 17 authors' own observations. Patients underwent a complex examination that included chest computed tomography, comprehensive pulmonary-function tests, and a Doppler echocardiography. The article also describes a clinical case, which illustrates the difficulties in diagnosing and treating amiodarone lung.

Conclusion: When amiodarone lung is suspected, the differential diagnosis should include cardiovascular diseases, neoplastic diseases and interstitial lung disease.
